Matter defines a common layer for device discovery, pairing and control. It can run over Ethernet, Wi-Fi or Thread.
Thread, Zigbee and Z-Wave
Thread is a low-power IPv6 mesh. Zigbee offers a broad device ecosystem. Z-Wave uses sub-GHz frequencies that can improve range and reduce 2.4 GHz interference.
Why use a modular hub?
A multi-protocol hub does not automatically make every device interoperable. It brings multiple radios and local services into a coherent architecture while retaining the right controller for each network.
